These wheels just keep taking me places ...

I climb up into my truck and I just open myself to whatever comes down the road. Yes, there are days when I think of a specific subject I want to photograph, but a great majority of the time I haven't a clue what's going to find its way in my camera. It's fun to bump into the unexpected.

Case in point are the two images I bumped into and am uploading today. I pulled into a parking spot and directly ahead of me was a brick building a tagger had painted. I am drawn to meters with their pipes and gauges and moving parts. So, to find one directly in front of my truck, and painted no less, I was in heaven.

No less fun was the back of the truck I stared at when stopped at a traffic light. I'm not sure what the cartoon is, perhaps a pie-eyed coo coo. But I was entranced by the lines and lights of the truck, the patterns, the number, the license plate AND the coo coo.

See Gulls at the Seashore ...

It was forecast to be raining today; so glad the meteorologists were wrong! The sun shineth! I took this shot of the seagulls as the tide is coming in. I threw on a film grain effect, which gives the image a brighter, stylized appearance. The shore colors here often tend toward drab and monochromatic.

As I drove around Birch Bay, I thought again of this or that being the last time I do this or that. I won't be here in August to pick the free blackberries that grow wild and rampant along the sides of the roads.  It will be the last time I'll see spring exploding in the diversity of colors of blooms and blossoms. The blooming trees here are stupendous. It'll be a totally different sensory experience in Colorado. Instead of crabs, I'll encounter scorpions ... so I'm told.

I'll miss the seagulls and all things beachy. As I walked along the shore I saw the annual evidence of the lovely white bent-lipped clams and the pretty designs on the young manila clams.

Yup. Change is life. But I'll always have a camera in hand to bear witness to wherever I am!

Walkabout in Fairhaven and Project 365

Well, here's my dilemma. While walking around Fairhaven this morning, I took a couple of photographs that tickle me, and because they are so freshly captured, I'm at a loss as to which to use for today's photograph.

I won't squeeze in all of them, but these four particularly please me. A couple of them have been edited with a film grain filter. I'm having a love affair with this filter. I'm sure it will soon run it's course and then I'll be off on another technique. But for the time being, I'm using the film grain.

Project 365

I went by Seaside Bakery in Blaine, and the patterns of the tables and chairs tickled my eye. Alas, the bakery was closed so I had to photograph through the glass window. I didn't set my camera to compensate for the lighting--that's what happens when I get in a hurry--but I loved the pattern. So, even though the clarity is missing, I threw a film grain filter on the image to enhance the yellow. It was a good learning experience. (I learned not to be in such a dangblasted hurry!)

Project 365

Rainy in Birch Bay. So, my options were to shoot indoors or go out into the wet and cold. Had to go out anyway to go to work in the afternoon, but was dressed for office, not for tromping around in the mud and cold. So, today's photo(s) were taken at home with iPhone. The first one of the teapot and cups has a film grain filter. I like the end result. The one of the glass balls in a large glass bowl is unedited.

The tea accoutrements are in celebration of The Year of the Hare.
