Day 8 Routine

Routine ... any routine, my routine? I had to think about this a bit. Because I'm, for all intents and purposes, retired. I don't routinely get up at a specific time each morning. Often when I get up is determined by when I put down my book and turn off the light and go to sleep. If it's a good tale, I might not get to sleep until almost time to get up to go to work, if I were working. So, you can see, I can't use that as a routine. I'm very inconsistent.

Oh! Okay! I have one. I have two.

I routinely remove the stickers/labels from fruit from supermarket fruit and stick it up on the back-splash by the sink. I also stick them to my daily journals, or even include them as part of collaged art correspondence I send. Routinely, the labels end up on the back-splash. Ta-Da! My first photograph.

Another routine I have is to take off my jewelry when I go to bed and toss it slap-dash onto a rattan tray on my nightstand. Eventually it piles up and at some point I transfer the baubles to a jewelry box on my bureau. Ta-Da! My second photograph depicting a routine.

My life seems RULED by a Camera ...

I've been feeling guilty about not doing my daily photo upload, as promised. Here it is almost 11-13-11 and some six days since my last upload. But then, gosh darn it, I got to thinking that I've been behind the camera for hours each day. Not shooting creative arty stuff, but commercial, "studio" stuff.

I don't have a studio, per se, but I have my lights set up, and the lightbox to difuse the light on the stones, beads, and jewelry I'm photographing, editing, and uploading to my two Etsy sites http://www.birchbaykay.etsy.com/ and http://www.westasthecrowflies.etsy.com/ .

I think that should count for a photo-a-day! So, here are a couple, okay a few, of the most recent:

Influence of Surroundings

Birch Bay Sunset

Birch Bay shells, beach glass and pebbles

Like a lot of artists, I'm heavily influenced by my natural surroundings. Having lived in Birch Bay on the west coast of WA for seven years, I still feel the water sloshing around in m'brain!

A number of years ago I read a Barbara Kingsolver non-fiction "High Tide in Tucson" about transitioning from ocean to desert. If I remember correctly, she wrote of her hermit crab still moving through its cage in time to the tides.  (Her insights about nature and the desert are almost lyrical. I highly recommend this as a good read!)

However, I am planted here in Spokane for the present and this is where I have to find a new ebb and flow. It'll happen ... with patience.

It will be fun to see what new jewelry will result from this new environment!

First Day of Spring ... Huzzah! Oh, and 365.

Am I one day behind? I thought for certain I had uploaded a photograph for March 19. No? Well, I'll provide two today. I've been busily "trying" to put things in order for my move, but it surely seems like I'm merely shoving things around into different positions and not getting anything OUT OF THE HOUSE!

I tried to take a couple of photographs of the Super Moon last night, but I was not up to the task and neither was my camera. C'est la vie. At least the clouds cleared and I saw it; awesome.

Okay, I got that off my chest and I can move on.  The two photographs below were of trinkets I had pinned on my bulletin board as reminders, as treasures du jour, as things I didn't want to misplace.
