Photographing While Waiting in Spokane Traffic

I had attended an event in downtown Spokane and was heading home. While out and about I normally snap a couple of photographs with my iPhone for my IG. I hadn't encountered anything to that point, so I decided since there were a number of stoplights between where I was and home, I would photograph something whenever I was stopped, waiting for the light to change to green.

I just pointed my camera out the window and  *click* There wasn't time to decide what best to shoot. Simply stop for the traffic ahead of me and spontaneously shoot ... whatever.

It was simple. It was fun. I won't make a habit of it, BUT it was freeing to do something totally unstructured, impulsive. Well, not totally unstructured ... I did crop them after I got home.

I forgot to include the images for the twenty or so matted photographs that are also part of the display now up at the Redlands Art Association in Redlands, Calfornia. I'll assemble those and post them within the next week.

While I'm in the midst of posting this, I'll also add that I'm still having a ball posting and viewing photographs on Instagram. I have posted over 400 images in my Instagram gallery, but I've decided to refine the photographs uploaded to only black and white images from today through the end of April. I'm enjoying the challenge of taking photographs that make strong black and white images.

TGIF and 89 of 365 ...

I've been taking a goodly number of photographs of late. All very utilitarian. All items I've put for sale on Craig's List. I've looked at a lot of items for sale on that site, and it amazes me how people will upload a snapshot the viewer has difficulty even seeing, much less compelling them to buy.  Maybe I'm making too much of it, but I've had fun cropping and editing photographs so my items for sale look their best. I don't doctor the photos, or misrepresent how the item looks. But I do show it at its present best. It's been fun. I've even sold a couple of things. Others I may have to tinker with the pricing, but the photographs look incredible!

I was out in the grass while Suki was doing her thing, and I was having fun with my shadow. It was an odd experience to have a distinct shadow and while I'm still looking through the lens for another shot having my shadow totally disappear! The sun had ducked behind a cloud and I suddenly was shadowless. I guess one had to be there to get the gist of the experience. I felt rather vampire-ish.

So, here's today iPhone shot of my shadow before it parted to return to the land of shadows. Not a masterpiece. Not even a good shot. Just my frumpy green shadow.

Day 73 and Fuzzy

I was without my camera, but had my trusty iPhone, so used what I had at hand! This is another shot of driftwood and some dried weed. I liked the pick-up-sticks or web-effect of the dead weeds, and the texture of the wood. I pushed the contrast on the image and applied a film grain effect. I kinda like it!

Project 365

Rainy in Birch Bay. So, my options were to shoot indoors or go out into the wet and cold. Had to go out anyway to go to work in the afternoon, but was dressed for office, not for tromping around in the mud and cold. So, today's photo(s) were taken at home with iPhone. The first one of the teapot and cups has a film grain filter. I like the end result. The one of the glass balls in a large glass bowl is unedited.

The tea accoutrements are in celebration of The Year of the Hare.

Today 01-16-11:

I've been playing with the B&W feature on my Canon PowerShot SD790 IS. While out picking up some dogfood, my eye was attracted to this grove of trees. Why not?

01-15-11:

I was photographing a newly made pair of earrings at the kitchen counter, and loved the colors of the copper pitcher and the red box, even the shadows and the warm and cool contrasting walls. This was shot with my iPhone.
