Top o'the Morning to ya, Spring!

Adjusted my clocks around the house as I slipped into Spring mode this morning. I am already enjoying this change, as everything seems to sprouting a little bit earlier this year. Is it just my imagination or am I experiencing global warming up close and personal?

It was rainy and dismal most of the day, but I had picked up some daffodils at the grocery store--mine aren't yet up--and they provided just the energy lift I needed.

So, with a tip o' my Tam to St Paddy's Day, here are a couple iPhone shots of the green!

Happy Spring!

Day 23 Patterns

Yes, again I can't decide which to use. I loved the patterns carved in the soapstone and the patterns in the fan, even the ribs of the fan make a pattern, a repetition. I loved the pattern of the vintage molded glass. And to finish off the trio of photographs, I love the pattern of the dots in the day lily.

Patterns ... love 'em!

Du Jour 5

Oops! Almost forgot to upload today's painting. Source of light is florescent so color's a tad icky, but at least you get the gist of the geraniums.

Another day, another painting ...

Time is a subjective measurement, right?

Okay, so I'm a tad late to have this qualify as yesterday's blog entry. But I've uploaded a new photograph to my Etsy store http://www.kweststudio8.etsy.com/ and I wanted to share it with you folks, too.

Actually, I also edited one of the Greek Orthodox Church photographs I included in day before yesterday's upload and I wanted to show how it transformed, too.

My head cold still rages, so I'm not out and about much of late, so am left to my own devices and gadgets indoors. Anyway, the malady, too, will pass and I'll soon be back out of doors.

Here are today's (yesterday's)

I edited this image of the Greek Orthodox Church
 with a Cutout effect

On this image, too,
I used an effect filter: Crisscross

A-Choo! Bless you. Have a cold? No, why do you ask?

Just a little bit of title banter. I'm always at a loss when writing "titles" for these blog entries. I guess I should have chosen a blog format that doesn't incorporate them in the template. Hmmm

Today I was buried in the basement doing my jewelry thing, but I did come up for air a couple of times to let the mutt out and just to stretch and acknowledge the outside world.

I just happened to have my trusty--well, becoming less and less trusty--camera with me, so of course, I used it while it still works. Lordy! Lordy! Please keep on working, li'l buddy! Mama can't buy another one right now! (more banter)

OK ... main event: I took a picture of the echinacea blooming out in my sister's garden, and when I got back to my computer, I started editing with filters. Love them filters!!!

So, here is the unedited shot and two filtered alternatives.

Echinacea (unedited)

Echinacea (film grain filter)

Echinacea (outline filter)
Unanticipated colors showed up in this one. Love it!
Reminds me of an etching or reduction print. Cool!

A little late ... so what?

A rather defensive title isn't it? Yes. I wanted to get today's photograph uploaded. Don't want to get behind. So, Spokane! I didn't go anywhere today, so I rambled about the garden and house. Here are two. One was of my lunch ... the other of a dog toy on a glass table. Go! Fetch, Darby! (No, Suki doesn't fetch. Suki doesn't play with toys. Whatta dog!) And I threw in a 3rd, close up of a feathery pink poppy.

July 27, 2011 ... sort of ...

My friend, Terry, sent a link for another one-a-day-photograph blogger, and I was struck by the difference in our styles. Mine is very tight and structured, while the other photographer has a very loose, spontaneous approach. I rather liked the other style. I think I'll make an effort to loosen up, experiment with other images. It will be interesting to see what transpires. This old dawg needs a new trick or two!

'Night!
