The Light of Day ...

Here it is moments from changing from Thursday to Friday, and it seems I came up from my "base of operations" in the basement only to let out the dog, eat, and use the loo. It looked like it might have been a nice enough day outside, but I just had too much to keep me occupied between all of my various avocations, so I really couldn't say for certain if it was nice or not.

I did download just a couple of photographs from the Finch Arboretum, and I'll share those with you tonight. I'll sort through the rest of them tomorrow and see if there's anything worthwhile among them.

Speaking of leaf pile, it was so peaceful and contemplative meandering through the trees and falling leaves at the arboretum. It was later in the day, that golden time, and Mel and I had the preserve pretty much to ourselves.

Of the two photographs I'm uploading tonight, I loved the yellows and gold leaves of the one shot, with the black trunks and branches. The leaves were so unique because they looked individually painted on, one by one by one; so evenly spaced. It was some kind of aspen, but I can't recall the genus.

The other shot is simply an overall light through the trees beauty, with a hint of the autumn display of color.

I brought home some of the fallen leaves and sealed a couple in self-sealing laminating pouches. I'm curious if they'll keep their color by being sealed away from air, or they will simply turn brown.

I hope you'll enjoy the photographs! They'll always keep their color!

Lost?

How can it possibly be 10:48 pm on a Friday night? It "feels" much earlier in the week and much earlier in the evening. Oh my! Does this mean I'm getting old and am losing track of time?

Perhaps.

Perhaps I'm just involved in what I'm doing, focused on and savoring each moment, oblivious to day and time. Yes! That's it!

I intended to upload a different photograph for today, but I seem grounded in this time meditation, which prompted me to upload this image to my Etsy shop this morning.




Lost in Time

OK ... the time thingy is outta my system--yeah, right--and here is the image I wanted to use as today's Project 365 upload. I loved the asymmetry of the large mass of trunk on the right and the delicate touch of finer branches and leaves on the left side.

Project 365 and a story to be told ...

I uploaded to http://www.kweststudio8.etsy.com/  a photograph I took today. It was just a view looking through some trees to the forest beyond, but ...

I used a film grain filter on my photograph, because I wanted to heighten an ambience.

Here's the description I included on Etsy:

There's a tale to accompany this photograph, as it hints of something to be encountered beyond the clearing. The view through the canopy of branches, into the open clearing, and the darkness of the woods beyond enhance some inexplicable anticipation. You feel it, don't you.

I was working at home all day, but needed to drive over to the studio to pick up some materials. That was around 5:30 pm and when I came out I found the sky awash with color. I was missing a sunset extravaganza! The light was changing rapidly and I knew I'd never make it to the beach in time. So, I just stopped, whipped out my camera and clicked. I love all the branches--they look energized! Here she be, the photo for Thursday, January 27, 2011:

In keeping with my intent to "look up," the following are photographs of tree trunks I came across yesterday afternoon while out with the mutt. I was struck how one of them looks so much like a face. It made me smile. I wonder if I made the tree nymph smile at me. Hmmm ...

Uploaded just in the nick of time. Still a bit o'time before it's tomorrow. Wandered around this afternoon and came across this. It wasn't what I had anticipated seeing in a tree in the Pacific Northwest, but heck, why not?

I'm including this one, too. There was something about all the little bare twigs at all different angles that intrigued me.
